HEY THERE... I'm Nicolette Denoncour, I'm eighteen years old, a freshman in college and an aspiring entrepreneur. I was born in Clarksville, Tennessee on September 9, 1994.
HOW IT ALL STARTED.... Around the beginning of my sophomore year When I was fifteen, my friends started to want to make their own money. Thus, began the scramble for a job. I started school early, and i was younger than all of my friends who were sixteen years or older. I was kind of left solo to figure out something to do for myself. One day, I was exploring You-tube and I saw a woman (GardenOfImagination), making cute doll-house foods, and such. She created the objects with Polymer Clay. I watched all of her videos, and it seemed pretty cool to me, so I decided it would be fun to give it a shot. I did tons of research, and dragged my mom to Hobby Lobby to buy my supplies. I started off on a small cutting place-mat in the dining room of our house, using a marker as a rolling pin, and my very own hands to condition the too over-softened, cheap clay.
I was off to a very slow start, and I never really realized how much potential I had with this so called Polymer Clay. I soon found out, I was kinda good at it, so I started buying more clay and more supplies, and started telling my friends about it. They were skeptical at first, until they saw my first few charms. Very few people bought my items because, to put it bluntly, they sucked. They were cute, but not nice enough to buy. From then on I started improving my items, and to this day I still improve. I didn't plan on making this my business until the summer I passed my sophomore year. I'm now reaching the middle of my senior year, and I have my own website!
THE NAME.... I had tons of cute names, but none that jumped out at me. Then one day I was thinking about Cupcakes,(because I wanted one ._.) and and looking outside of my window. I heard a bird outside my window and then it hit me. Hey There Sugar Jewelry! It was a pretty snazzy name, and I love it! Oh, and you now know the meaning of the picture of my business. =]
(I give all credit to Sarah Parker, for making my business logo :} thank you so much!!!!)
